I recently started sewing lessons, and this seemingly innocent, easy dress very quickly turned into the dress from HELL! I definitely should not have done it as my 2nd ever project, but oh well, thank god for sewing instructors. Now I'm pretty happy with it, it kind of has a early 60s Mad Men kind of feel too it, and since I'm obsessed with that show and their clothes, I was pleasantly surprised Smiley I think its a New Look pattern, but I don't know the number offhand.

(please excuse my messy, messy room...its hard to take pics of yourself!)

close up of the pattern on top...how excited was I to come home and find out it was Alexander Henry!...cheap!...and at JoAnns!

thanks so much for looking!! Smiley

Wow that is really cute! I like your fabric choice. It goes with the classic silhouette of the dress.

Very nice work, keep it up.

And you're right with the age period of the "look". I had a similar dress when I was in Jr. High (1958 or 1959). I loved the dress. I thought it was a very becoming style. I also had one with a full skirt.  And yes, to you, I am most likely older then dirt.
