I've decided on two pieces of fabric from my stash-- a wide ribbed corduroy and a lovely flannel!  What do you think?

Ideas for trims?  Buttons?  I was thinking fabric covered buttons?

a2k-Ooh, very nice! I like what meganlorraine said too! Also, some frilly lace might be a cute contrast with the tougher corduroy.

I just had a craftster date with Klum78, and we went to the craft thrift store and I got some really cool heavy-ish weight fabric. It is brown, and somewhere between a velveteen and a corduroy (that's how the owner described it, I couldn't figure out what it was but it was with the other velveteens), it is almost fuzzy-ish with very very faint lines. I love it! Also Klum brought me lots of fun fabric, so I just don't know what I'm gonna do!

This swap has definitely peaked my interest. Before I do sign up, just wanted to find out if there will be interest in the following kind of purse:-

I work primarily with leather-REAL leather not the faux kind that's out there. If anyone is adventurous and would like to work with leather, I will gladly supply it for you to craft a purse and can even guide you as to the correct sewing feet, needle to use if using a regular sewing machine etc. Also, if any of you have some leather pieces that you would like transformed into a purse, I can give it a shot! I go to FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in New York where I do Accessories Design.

Of course, I do have tons of nice fabrics that I can also send and wouldn't mind receiving fabric to sew a nice purse for you.

Anyway, that's just my two sense. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks

If I can sew up the four quilt squares I have cut out for my other swap today then I will sign up.  That will be my reward for being almost done.    What time tomorrow are you cutting off sign ups?

MareMare- Aside from the Christmas fabric I don't know if anything in the bag is big enough for a purse.  Maybe as an accent piece to the fuzzy brown stuff?

Leather...  hmm, I might be brave enough to try it.  I have sewn with suede before.  Would you just use a walking foot?  I have one for my machine that I have yet to use.

A walking foot is fine even though it could leave track marks on the leather. Your best bet is a teflon foot
