i just found this site and it is a MUST visit.  everything is pretty expensive ($8-$29 per YARD) but everything is so wonderful it's probably worth the money(my favorite is "lady of the canyon"- beautiful)

p.s. just posted it here because this is most fabric related... just fitted...

I am terribly upset that all the fabric is so expensive.  Great Link though.  My mom and I are going to drive in to LA and see what is going on with the Fabric in the Garment District.  I hope I can Find the Strawberry and Poodle print   Smiley

You can do a Google search on the fabrics named (example: "Aunt Grace") and  find shops (online/independent) selling for up to $2/yard cheaper. Nice, grandma stores in the country.  Even Virginia Quilter sells for $1 less on most items.

Someone at Hancock once explained to me . . . a lot of the smaller fabric designers refuse to sell to be corporate fabric stores (i.e., Joannes, and Hancock Fabrics). That's the reason you only see those prints in smaller shops and it also accounts for the higher prices. Something to be respected.

I love those college students who work at the fabric store for the discount  Wink

Oh thank you so much for sharing that site! I love Michael Miller prints...and I was willing to spend $9 bucks a yard...they have 'em for $6.25-$7.00! I still may be able to get fabric cheaper -- my mother has a friend who may have a wholesale license  Cheesy
