I'm really digging this idea. I am doing this when I get home. I have a bunch of shirts that are either too small or fit strangely so this may be the solution!

I get those same shirts at Micheals and they are too small too, especially in the arms. I've had to cut from the armpit to the sleeve to get them to be comfortable. I have some cute knit fabric that I will definitely try this idea out on! Thanks!

PS - this is my first post on Craftster!

I got those shirts from Michaels and the same thing happened! I really didn't want to throw them away because I figured I could do something with them! Thanks so much for the inspiration!

Oh, dear! I just bought SEVERAL from Michael's just a couple weeks ago!

But NO FEAR! You have made me able to leap tall buildings in a single bound! Or, at least fix the problem before it gets out of hand...

Thanks.

Yes, you can also sew this by hand if you don't have a sewing machine.
You'll need to use a whip stitch.
I used to do the opposite of this.
Since I'm of petite size I would just try it on and take off how ever much necessary.
But this is also a grand idea.
Love the blue.
The print looks great with it.

great idea...and very cute shirts!  i would buy that if i saw it in a store.  (or at least go home and try to figure out how to make it, what can i say?  i'm a craftster at heart!)
i have a shirt i love, but it's grayish-brown and turns pretty much black when wet, so i have a similar problem with the armpit part...this may just justify my keeping it for *yikes!* 9 years and only wearing it once.

Great idea. Makes the shirts really pop too.
