If any of you guys are looking for a sewing machine I saw a great deal today at an estate sale. 60's era Singer, in a nice cabinet with cams, feet & extra accesory feet including a ruffler foot for $75, if it's still there tomorrow it will be discounted from that. Very clean, totally complete, cams were in their original box!

It's in the paper, 116 Moss in Castle Hills

Oh my goodness, Penlowe! How very tempting! But a fancy sewing machine would be beyond my needs at this point.... but oh, I would love to have some decorative stitches on my plain vanilla old Kenmore! ("cams" to me means lots of pretty stitches)

The new Super Jo-Ann's opened last Friday (soft opening, w/ grand opening in a week or so- watch for it!) and I went in today...nice bright lighting, clean bathrooms, and a lot of STUFF... they'll be having 50% off coupons during their grand opening (I'll try to find the particular days and post them on this thread) It's a different layout from other Super Jo-Ann's I've been in, and it doesn't actually say Super on the outside, but it is.

If you need books or records, or maps, or videotapes,  this is your chance to collect up lots of stuff cheap at the Friends of the Library book sale in New Braunfels this coming Friday and Saturday, Oct 24 and 25; see this thread http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=274976.0 for hours and particulars.

This year there are especially a lot of children's books of all vintages, tons of craft magazines and quite a few craft booklets and magazines, vintage and otherwise. It's hard to tell how fast it will all move, but whatever is left will go in the bag sale on Saturday afternoon.

I just didn't want ya'll to miss out on some good deals.

New to Castle Hills over here.  Okay, so not really "new" but you know, like, a little less than a year.  I think I live near a couple of neat little mom-and-pop crafty stores (quilt stores, yarn stores, etc.) but I haven't checked them out yet.

Anybody know about crafty events or groups that meet around here?

I am seriously considering that too Smiley I did SXSW a few times in my college days, mostly seeing all the new bands at night, there wasn't all the film, art & 'to-do' activities back then.
My kids are in school that day, I can take people with me but I need to come back early unless I make other arrangements for my kids after school. Even then I'd have to be home dinner-ish.

I need to order a Craftster tee....

I'm just picking up crafting (mostly cross stitch/embroidery) again after a long hiatus.  I keep hitting up the neighborhood Hobby Lobby and Michaels when I need things, but I am starting to feel a bit ... underwhelmed.  The JoAnn's off 410 is pretty awesome.

Anyone know of some good specialty stores around town?  I'm more interested in needlework shops, but I'm sure others would benefit from the info. Smiley

Hi all! I just got a new job and will be soon moving to San Antonio! Looking to network with other crafters. I do mostly jewelry and beadwork but I also sew, knit, crotchet, paint, and sculpt.

Don't get the chance to spend too much time here,  Undecided but I check in every once in a while. Cheesy So, I just now found this thread. I'm in Coverse (NE side) just off I35 and Judson. I'm ALWAYS looking for other crafty people to rub elbows, spend time with and share ideas with.

I am close to Downtown. A couple blocks from SAC! I have been beading for a couple months now. Started out peyote stitch kandi cuffs, then I down/upgraded to seed beads. My bible study group liked my work and suggested I make more to sale. I attempt to sale stuff, but it ain't selling that well Sad I have an etsy account!

anyone in San Antonio might think to look in the quilt shops, I looked in one and found they do have some of the stuff for needle work. From plastic canvas and fabric to the needles and patterns. You never know until you take a look at your quilt shops. Happy hunting ladies.
