Well, it's been done before, but not exactly like this. I searched Craftster for Dr. Who inspired scarfs (like this one), and with as long as they all were, this one beats all! (Mwuah, hahahahah!! I'm entirely too pleased with myself for this...)

Okay, I'm a nerd. I love Doctor Who. I've wanted Tom Baker's scarf since I was a little kid. So I finally taught myself to knit just to make this one. So, here is my first knitting project EVER. It took me right under a month to make. It is 10 inches wide by 20 feet long. To measure it, I had to unroll it across my entire living room and dining room. And yes, I plan on wearing it everywhere, and possibly saving the world while I'm at it.

Also, I now consider myself an expert at the garter stitch.

The Doctor with his scarf:

Thanks for looking,
Ally

P.S. The colors look a bit off in the pictures. They're significantly more subdued in real life. No bright blues or anything...

Now that's fangirl love!

I wondered when I saw how long it was whether it was a Doctor Who scarf. Smiley This page has a bit of info about the scarves, which I thought was interesting:

But we have flamethrowers. And what this indicates to me, it means that at some point, some person said to himself, "Gee, I sure would like to set those people on fire over there. But I'm way too far away to get the job done. If only I had something that would throw flame on them."

Grin It wasn't just a matter of fan-girliness... I just really, REALLY like long scarves.

That looks awesome and so cozy!  Even if I didn't get the Dr. Who reference, I would still be impressed. Great project - I can't believe it was your first!

Big love for a big scarf!

I am impressed... I'd have totally gotten impatient and ended it sooner, just to be done. =)

How long did that take you to make? It would've taken me about 3 years. It's really cool.

Wow... you must be a very fast knitter to be able to finish that in less than a month...
I made a scarf that wasn't even long enough to wrap around my neck and it took me a year! lol
