Seeing as i'm still learning to make clothes I decided to set myself a challenge- finish a coat in one night! Luckily I was successful... and wore the coat to a gig in Wales the next night!

It is based off Simplicity pattern 4047 which is a 50's reproduction cape/coat that also includes patterns for short trousers, pencil skirt and lovely top in a matching style. I made this out of orange tweeed that was £4.00 for 2 metres.

Because it's a cape style it doesnt have buttons bu I wanted it to close somehow. Because i'm a halloween fan and it is to be my september-november coat I made this shrinky plastic skull brooch to keep it closed. I really love it and so does my nan! Wink

Heres me in Wales modelling said coat.. ignore unknowing band member in background! Cheesy

Thanks for looking!

Lovely coat! Perfect color, well done! I also really love the photo too - very artsy, looks like a magazine ad.

Cheesy

No it wasnt difficult, but I guess that was because it was a fairly thin material, as far as tweeds go. It does fray a lot though.. so you'd be wise to zig-zag your edges earlier rather than later!
