I don't think anyone has offered despite my shameless begging.  What about you? Undecided Looking at {insert your name} with giant puppy dog eyes, yes you!)

Honestly, I would do it but my travel schedule means only one swap and I already signed to run round two of the Harry Potter swap.

boo,
I am planning on signing up for round two of the Harry Potter swap!!  I would have done the first round, but I need to replenish my supplies a bit.  How much work does hosting entail?  I keep thinking of offering to host round 2, but I don't think I will have time to make extra items for people whose partners flake.  I will be starting a new job and writing a final paper all at the beginning if may.

Anyone have any feedback about hosting??  How bad is it?

I have to say hosting a swap is not too bad, it only sucks (but it doesn't suck that much!!!) if you have problems or have flakers...but I think the majority of swaps don't have flakers. As for the amount of time it takes...well I would say that I probably spent 3-4 hours total of computer time during the set up and getting delivery confirmation numbers. All in all, it really wasn't too bad. You can print off a sheet in the swap guide to keep track of all your partners and their partners as well as confirmation numbers. That helps a lot. I would do the second round, but I too am off on worldly travel adventures in May...yay!!! For me...it didn't bother me that much to make the extra stuff that I had to make cause of the flaker...but I love craftin' ...really the only crappy part is paying the postage, but you could always send it without a confirmation number...thats what I had to do so I could afford it.

Anyhoo, just wanted to let you know that it really isn't that much trouble. But if you don't have the extra time or extra money (for sending out flakers replacement packages) then I wouldn't do it. Also, what I have seen in other swaps is when there is a flaker, sometimes people will offer to send out stuff to the other person (if they live relatively close). I think that is super nice of people, and I have done it myself. Just to help the organizer out, especially if there is more then one flaker.  Anyhoo, I hope this all made sense Krebster...sometimes I can just ramble and ramble and ....

Anyhoo, hope it helps.

I won't even pretend that I could host it -- Real Life is completely kicking my ass right now.  I'll spare you all the gory details (I'll sum up by saying that...... today is the last day for my supervisor, and the accountant that handles my files -- today is also the deadline for my federal applications.  Not to mention that today is also the 4th birthday of my daughter and the 23rd birthday of my sister.....and those are just the high points) .  I am interested in participating if if gets up and going though.

For the swap I hosted previously, I actually lined up a person int he swap to take over for an flakes with the promise of something from me at a later date.  But I had no flakes!!!

It isn't tough but it will take time.  And you'll be sending reminders, answering questions, etc.  I enjoyed the experience and look forward to doing it again.

P.S. Nessa maybe we'll pass in airports and never know it.  It'll just be a subtle feeling that a fellow craftster is nearby!  ;-)

Okay, I don't think I can resist.  Plus the feedback you guys have given is really helpful.  If I use my breaks during work and such, I should be fine.  Hopefully round 2 won't be that big.  I'll post here when I post the sign up info for round 2.

Ha ha...you just never know...I've often thought of making something with a "craftster" reference on it, so that passer-byers would know that I'm part of this awesome crafty forum...hummmm something to think about.  Your going to Costa Rica aren't you?...gonna go visit Riley's old stomping grounds. I'm gonna head over to England to see if I can meet up with any watchers that might have been spared... Wink

And to you Krebster....YOU ROCK...Way to go for taking the plunge!!! I'll keep my eye out for the next one.

This is totally late in coming, but I wanted to make sure I had a good picture of MsBettie's fabulous work!  I teased that I was going to have to buy a camera to do her work justice (especially her fabulous book purse), and so I said "what the hell!" and bought one.  So...here's my score from MsBettie.

Thanks again!!
