I just saw Goofball's post with her expertly made album/scrapbook with an old record as its cover and it reminded me about a book I made with a record too. Mine is not nearly as nice as hers (I had an unfortunate experience with Gorilla Glue Cheesy ) but I thought I would share.

I made it back in January for my boyfriend's birthday. He used to draw all the time and had been depressed about how he had lost his motivation a few years ago because some jerk told him he was a bad artist. He'd wanted to get back into drawing because I inspired him to start again (I'm an artist) but all his old sketchbooks were buried away in storage.
So I knew I wanted to make a book for him. He also collects records and the bookshop where I work actually also sells old records. I found a really battered Neil Young record, he LOVES Neil, and I thought it'd be perfect to put to good use on the book. I used Davey Board for the covers and some strong waxed upholstery thread to bind the pages. I wanted to do a lot more with the musical note swirly designs but I sort of ruined the surface when I put too much gorilla glue on and it all foamed out from under the record. If you ever use that glue and don't already know - be careful with the amounts or you'll end up with an enormous foamy mess!

Sorry for the shoddy pictures, I took them with my macbook and haven't had the chance to take real pics because he has it down in Miami with him.
