I have my first towel finished, and have got a good start on the second. I am going to be stitching like a mad woman to get them done in time to send. Going to be moving into my new house this weekend so I am hoping that they will be done before then.
I take a commuter train to work and brought my towels along with me to work on. Everyone was looking at me like I was a freak  Cheesy

There's nothing like crafting in public.  I fly all the time for work and always bring something to work on with me.  The other night I was knitting socks on an airplane and you'd have thought that I was from Mars.  I look at it as a way to educate people.  Wink

progress update:
towel 1- done
towel 2- 95% done
towel 3- 90% done

does anyone have any pointers on how to get eyes to look good? for some reason they keep turning out crappy and i'm afraid to keep redoing them or there will be holes in my towel!

yeah, every time i do crafting in public someone says "oh, i didn't think people did that anymore".

I tend to craft in public, too: waiting in queue for getting the kids from school, at the drive in theatre before the movies start, at the park while the kids play, in the waiting room at Drs. and dentists, etc... I like to bring tatting especially, because it is so small and portable. The thing people say that really bugs me is...

"Why don't you just buy it at WalMart?"

Check in:

Towel 1 - 100%
Towel 2 - 78.93461% (I don't really know; I'm close to done)
Towel 3 - Completely scrapped initial idea and have a new design that incorporates 3 of my partners likes: Bright colors, **o****, and **n***a**. I have the design on the fabric and colors selected. I may work on this one today, as I need a break from #2.

I've never been lost, but I will admit to being confused for several weeks.

All those people who stare at us crafting in public are just jealous.  They wish they could do what we do! Cool  I always end up too busy to craft in public, well, that and I'm never in public to craft!  I'm a homebody.

Progress report:
100% completed, boxed up and ready to go!  I'll be going to the post office later tonight.  I'll PM you Sugarysweet to give you the dirty details.

If we decided to do a towels of the year swap, though, I'd like to suggest that we decide on a standardized towel (maybe something we can all order from the same place online?).  I like consistency like that on matched set.

i like the consistency of all using the same towel too!
it was frustrating finding good towels for this swap [i bought at least 3 different kinds before i settled on one!], but if someone has a place to order from, i think that's a great idea!
