Okay, I've had a couple of Vintage dish towels that my grandma made which I confiscated from my mom on one of my visits home.  I wanted to recreate them because I still use the vintage ones and maybe give the new ones back to my mom.

I happened to come across the pattern that the vintage ones were made out of at a local fabric and craft store and had to buy it.

Yesterday, I had a whole day to veg-out with a quick embroidery piece (as I watched the marathon of Mythbusters).  It's an Aunt Martha Pattern called Fruit and Vegetable Motifs # 3632.

No frills, no bangs or whistles, just a simple embroidered tea/dish towel. Plus the vintage dish towel with stains and all.

Here's the Front of the new one:

Here's the reverse side:

And this is the vintage towel made in I have no Idea what year, could be anywhere from the 1930s to the 1950s:

You can definitely tell this was just a domestic use piece, but I love it!

Human rights are for EVERYONE.  Did you know that Aung San Suu Kyi had been released from house arrest in Burma? Many other prisoners of conscience are still being detained.  Please research this topic... Amnesty International needs your help.

Love the design on this towel. Would be great in my kitchen, and the stitching is just perfect.  Smiley

Thank you, after I get the first segment of floss done, I try to weave the next segment underneath the first one before I even start on the next bit of embroidery.

Thank you yet again... It's really nice to hear complements.

I honestly wanted to hit the farmer's market to buy a really nice tomato to match up the colors more to the real thing, but settled on the heaps of floss I already have, just chose what was in my bag... =)  (Although the last time I went floss shopping I had to get the cool variegated thread)  *smirk*

This is really cute. I would have never thought to embroider lettuce and tomatoes.

I love it. I hope you will post the other vintage towels when you recreate them too. Can't wait to see.
