How is it possible that I'm already behind on commenting on the gallery? I covet Alberta. I keep seeing Sailor Jerry flash books on eBay and am sorely tempted to get one ... or maybe I should put it on my birthday/Christmas list.

Everything is looking amazing. I'm feeling like such a slacker that I didn't stitch on mine before sending it out.

My group this time has four strong themes going. I was a little worried at first that I wasn't going to be able to find things I liked for all of them, but now I'm really starting to get into them. I'm going to be doing designs I normally wouldn't pick out and have little stories about them going in my head.

Yes, me = dork.

G.G., when I submitted my questionnaire, I didn't indicate a theme. However, when I sent out my towel, on the note I included, I said a fairy/gnome theme would be fun (to go along with the fairy I stitched), but that I'm not a stickler for having a theme. So if it helps you plan ahead, feel free to think "fairies and gnomes" for my towel . . . and please share the story behind it when you post the pic in the gallery  Cheesy.

I those mini owls are cute and the banner really works nicely!

GatsbyGirl -I'm so glad to hear that someone else mentally storyboards their designs - I can't seem to stop on these towels where things tend to build along Wink  The Kate Hellenbrand ones that are all black and white stencil pictures are the Sailor Jerry books I have.

I totally am behind !!!

amyracinrose- LLLOOOVVEEE that santa where did you get the pattern?

rectangle- ugh.... now I am FREAKING out about what to stitch on yours... can I do ANY place that is a girl name? or is it places I live around?? Alberta is ssooo beautiful the only thing that I think is so weird about pin up flash is they always have 2 dots as noses... so I always am so scared I am going to make her look like a pig...  but yours turned out wonderfully... what towel did you use?

Picking the motifs is usually the biggest challenge for me.

I think I've gotta give this long and short stitch a try. I hate satin stitching and I really like the way that stitch fills things in!

brook-it can be any to do with travel really it doesn't have to be a girl.  I didn't want to make it really difficult -if you want to keep going with the names any name that's in your locale will do Wink  I bought the towels a while back so it is similar to a Sublime towel but not as textured (ie there is less of a grid to it which I prefer).  I always stress about the dot noses too and often turn them into lines but since her face was relatively straight on with this one I took the chance Wink

susie-I think you will like the short long I did a bunch on a project I haven't finished yet it looks great but I am not that consistent a stitcher and so I find it requires a lot of discipline for me to keep my stitches straight and the same length Wink

Here's the art deco-inspired tree I stitched on GatsbyGirl's pillow top.  I'm sending it off to the next stitcher tomorrow morning.

I used a variety of stitches and thread counts to give some texture to the swirls that depict leaves.  The variations in color on the tree trunk were made by combining two thread colors in the needle.  I think it looks like wood, so am pleased.

Oh, sonjabegonia, I LOVE it. It looks both and deco and like a '70s crewel pattern -- which is something I also adore.

What a fantastic first design.
