Love it. If you really like embroidered bugs, check out Annamieke Mein's work (just google her name) It will totally knock your socks off! I got a book from my local library with pictures of her work and was very inspired. Keep up the bug-tacular work!

first i despise moths...mostly because they chill at my front door light from like 6pm until 2am and makes it unpleasant to go in and out of my house.....BUT this is AMAZING. such detail. for the first time im actually saying a moth looks beautiful.

He's gorgeous...and so well executed.  He'd make an awesome soft pin for a hat or a bag.

That's a great idea! I love soft pins, but for some reason it didn't even occur to me.

MonkeyThumb, I googled imaged "tiger moth" to find some inspiration for the design. Then I just sketched him onto my fabric and went to town! I used split stitch on the wings to mimic scales, and satin on his body and markings to make them stand out from the wing base.
