Yesterday I bought a wheel, an Ashford Elizabeth 1(I think).  Before I brought her home, I hadn't even treadled a wheel.  It was such a great deal though.  Only $100 (USD) for the wheel, lazy kate, an antique skein winder, and a bag of mystery wool.  I spent a few hours learning the ropes last night before I had to disassemble her and hide her from my mom.  Apparently I should be spending my money on books and tuition.  Bah!

Anyway, my first bobbin full of yarn on a wheel!  Hooray.

If you want to see her all on one piece, I posted some pictures over on D&Q: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=263570.0

I'd love to hear from any of you that have an Elizabeth.

Thanks!  Yeah, I was SO surprised when I actually looked at the bobbin and realized what I just made.  How the heck did that happen?  Before I got her I hadn't even treadled a wheel.  It must have been some freak accident. Cheesy

Nah, you're just a natural!

What roving did you use?

Mill end stuff from Sheep Shed Studio that I dyed with store brand Kool-Aid.  Cheap stuff, but it's fun.

Sheep Shed mill ends may be inexpensive but they are great fibers!  Be sure to make sure you rinse the yarn well so the color won't bleed!!!

That is a wonderful first effort for wheel spinning!  I'm extremely impressed.  I just posted my first yarn on my new wheel (although I've owned other wheels for a while) in the Fibre Friday post.

Hooray for spinning wheels!  Oh wait, that's the whole point of this board, right?  Cool

Holy Toledo!  What a great deal on the wheel, and your first yarn is incredible!  Well done! Smiley
