Wow, I get to go first this week.

Not a real productive week for spinning - county fair and all (came away with 4 blue, 4 red and 2 white ribbons)  got a blue ribbon on my handspun, although the category was "Heritage Textile Arts" since there isn't a handspun yarn category.

My only entry this week is 2 skeins (170 yard & 89 yard) double ply from 3 oz batts I got in the Shop The Swap #17 from lapoli

Oooh, pretty!  I didn't get much spinning done either, but I did some, and that's the important part.  Here's Xavier (Xavier colourway from Twisted Fiber Arts, merino/kid mohair blend):

I love it!  I spin more natural fibres and batts, so handpainted is always fun and exciting.

Hey luxx...no I didn't dye the fiber.  I was cleaning out my craft room and came across a felted beads kit.  Since I'm not likely to make any felt beads in the near future, and my drop spindle was free...voila! Cheesy

I had some fibery adventures the past two weeks - I did some natural dyeing experiments and I collected some milkweed seed fluff to blend into my yarns! I gathered fleabane flowers and milkweed seed pods during one of my hikes. The fleabane flowers dyed a nice yellow on wool & mohair:

And I processed the seed fluff and carded it with other fibers (there's a tutorial + more natural dyeing pictures on my blog here):

Then I blended up a bunch of batts from the milkweed & naturally dyed fibers, and spun up two skeins.

Masala - Wool, mohair, and bamboo. The orange was dyed with onion skins, and the gray was dyed with alkanet root.

Huntress - Mostly mohair, plus wool, bamboo, and milkweed fluff. The deep red, pink, and peach are from madder root, and the gray is alkanet.

And, some vegan yarns I spun this week:

Eyebright - organic cotton. Each ply was spun from a different colorway.

Copper Kettle - One ply of organic cotton, one ply of blended bamboo & copper sparkle.
