I did this a few years ago with a similar brown hoodie which has since passed on Sad
With the cold weather coming up I got out my stash of buttons and created a new and better one. All I did was sew buttons around the edge of the hood, this hood had a tie which I simply removed, and around the edge of the pockets. I sewed the buttons on about 5 at a time which makes it easier to make repairs in the future....which I learned the hard way from my last attempt.
