K, so here's the deal.  I had been wanting to learn how to crochet for a few years now and I finally had someone to show me the ropes.  After making countless amigurumis, I decided I needed to try and make a afghan.

I just picked this pattern and went with it.  I was able to get some cool colors of yarn on clearance and that's how I picked the colors.  I thought crochet afghans didn't take that long, or so I had heard!  HAH!  Well, it only took me about a month or two.  I wasn't working on it every night like I should have been doing!!

So, I then got to thinking that I should enter it in our local fair.  Which I did.  And I won first place.  Sweet!!  Well, they had to give me first since I was the only one who entered in a ripple afghan. Tongue But I won three bucks and I was happy. Cool

I would like to add that I've been crocheting since May, so for only a few months now, and this is the biggest thing I have ever made.  Ever.  For myself.  And it's crocheted.  I am pretty proud of it and all my hard work.  I think I'll be keeping this one.  Smiley

Here she is in all her glory.  I think she's about 5 1/2 feet long and 4 or 5 feet wide.  I don't remember....

Here's a close up so you can see the colors better.  Don't look too close to the stitches. AHH!

I love the colours on it, it's really great. I'm not a big fan for doing big projects like this, so you should be really proud on getting it done... I would have left it for like... a year or two before I came back to it =P =D

If I wasn't under some type of time frame, I'm sure I would have set it down for who knows how long.  I think having the deadline to get it done was what motivated me to actually finish it.  And believe me, I am glad I am done!  Phew!

I love this! That is by far my fav color combination (aqua and brown)...

I've never tried ripples though, so kudos to you! My mom told me ripples are somewhat difficult!

Great job!  Wink
