What's on your shopping list every week?? What's on your shopping list every week??
I'm getting into a rutt, again.
Here are my staples:
I check the local adds to see what meat is on sale, then decide which of the stores I will stop at that week. We have 4 grocery chains, I don't do more then 2 a week, more like 2 every 10 days or so.
I get stew meat, chicken breast or thights, maybe a turkey breast, chops if they are on a good sale, same with cube steak or steak tips or a roast.
then each week I buy: baby carrots, a mellon or two, juice to make flavored ice cubes & to make home made jello, loaf of bread or sandwich wraps / tortillas. a bag or two of frozen veggies (usually one bag mixed then a bag of lima beans, or peas or green beans), granny smith apples. if i have been good a pint of ben & jerrys, sour cream, fresh berries if on sale, yogurt(large tub of plain low fat & a few small serves of flavored), skim milk, vanilla soy milk. fresh veggies. bags of salad mix & baby spinaach. 1/3 pound or so of deli tureky or ham to top salads with. sour dough pretzle nuggets.
staples I keep stocked up on: Extra virgin olive oil, spicees (sea salt in grinder, pepper in grinder, parm cheese in grinder, parsely flakes, garlic minced in jar, whole garlic when onsale, Chinese 5 spice, cinnamon, ) white rice, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, cereal (LOTS of cereal I mix a plain cereial (grape nuts, cheerios, rice crispies) with a sugar cereal (fruit loops, cinnamon toast crunch, cinnamon life.), also stock up on Special K red Berries, Special K Chocoalte if on sale. butter (cut sticks in quarters & freeze in zipper bag), vinigar. knox unfalv gelitin packets. canned tomaotes & tomatoe paste. stewed tomaotes. jars & cans of picekles & oilives. chick peas. lemons & limes if on sale or juice or true lemon & true lime. mustard, honey, hot sauce. pop corn kernals. tea bags & herbal tea bags. (loving Lipson Pyramid Teas, get when On sale & with coupon.)
wow. I guess I do keep alot more on hand then I thought... just hitting a rutt with my cooking....

I like this plan. Maybe I can get an idea for better staples. I'll attempt to make my list. Keep in mind that I'm a college student, and that I tend to go shopping in intervals of "Hey, this milk has gone bad". So this is more of a things kept on hand list.
-1% or 2% Milk, organic if it's on sale, Target brand if not
-Honey wheat bread
-Butter/margarine, preferably in stick, squeeze, and spread form.
-Eggs
-Ketchup
-Crunchy peanut butter
-Strawberry jam
-Shredded cheese
-Pita bread, for pita pizzas
-Tomato paste, for pizzas
-Canned olives and mushrooms, for pizzas
-Chicken and Stars soup, for when I'm feeling bad
-Ice cream sandwiches, really tasty and really cheap
-Rice,the boil in the bag kind
-Stir-fry seasoning
-Cinnamon bread, for breakfast
-Nutella
-Chicken breast, usually the frozen ones so I can just thaw one at a time
-Some kind of fruit, strawberries if available, or bananas
-Veggies, something I am lacking, but I love. Buying fresh ones is hard cause I sometimes don't use them fast enough, but canned ones aren't as good. I try to keep some canned stuff I like (corn, beans, peas) and then try to buy fresh stuff when I know I'm going to use it right away.

I bought some of those produce bags, I think they are called green bags??
I 'll find a link for them
. They really do work. I Also have a lettuce keeper,
I'll find a link for that too
.

I LOVE milk out of glass jars, it's much colder that way, tastes far better!! I find buying half gallons if it is in paper or plastic seems to help with the flavor. that or I am just nuts lol.

On my list every week...
Mushrooms
Bell peppers
Tomatoes
Spinach
Cucumber
Onions
Potatoes
Broccoli
Plenty of other veg depending on its season
Apples + bananas
Loads of berries when they're in season
Chickpeas and some mixed tinned beans
Some sort of cheese, a different one each week
Salmon or mackeral
Eggs
Soya milk
Yogurt, loads of yogurt
Bagels or wraps or bread, whatever I feel like
Wheat cereal for bf, muesli for me
Pistachios or almonds or both
Flour and yeast for bread
We also grow some of our own veggies and most of our herbs, and we're hoping to scale that up next spring.
Meat and fish I buy when on offer and freeze in portions, ready for later.
Things I keep in the store cupboard are olive oil, and extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, tinned tomatoes, pesto, creme fraiche often lurks in the fridge, Ryvita crackers, olives and sun-dried tomatoes and a little family of pickles, plus an army of dried herbs and spices. I bulk buy basmati and arborio rice, pasta and bulgar wheat.
I also keep a ton of baking ingredients - nuts, dried fruit, colourings, flours, semolina, chocolate, sugars etc etc.
Ice cream. There is always ice cream in our house!

These are some great lists! I'm single and not a great planner, so my grocery store visits are usually list-less and consist of working through the store, seeing what's on sale, and deciding what I can make using those items. If I'm on a new recipe spree, then I go to the store with the recipes and buy specifically for a dish.

i usually base my list on what is listed as on sale per my grocer's flyer. I stock up each week on sale items our family uses a lot. So lists really vary from week to week. I dont think i could list all the contents of the pantry and freezer, the list would be too long. It seems like i end up buying these things every week though:
Milk
bread
whatever meat is on sale
eggs
cheerieos
bananas
strawberrys if in season
grapes
onions
whatever fruit is on sale
sharp cheddar or mexican blend shredded cheese
