Hey craftsters...So I have an entire set of party perfect Oscar ideas for next weekend (it airs Sunday, February 24th).

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/g/archive/2005/02/22/oparty.DTL

Here's an example of one of the projects, "And the winner is" folded envelope napkin.  Enjoy the show!

Here's how to make this napkin:

To ensure crisp folds, press with hot iron after each step.

Place the napkin on a flat surface; fold the sides in, to meet in the middle.

Bring bottom portion of the napkin up to just over the middle point of the napkin.

Fold upper left and right  corners down and to the center, forming a triangular shape.

Fold the pointed end over to form the envelope shape. Don't forget to make one of your guests a winner, by inserting a movie gift certificate into one of the napkins.

Those napkins are adorable! I think that's such a cool idea even though I'm not having a party. That site has some awesome ideas, too!

You both should have a party!  I forgot to mention you have to make them a little over the top by adding a storebought cookie seal and a snippet of ribbon.

So I have a whole new batch of ideas for the Oscars this year:  I'd figured I'd resurrect this thread as opposed to creating a new one.
It's another story I wrote:

Here's one of the projects, Popcorn Bucket Bouquets

Those are great ideas.  I love the popcorn bouquets.  When I had an Oscars party, I glued a Ken doll to a tin tuna can, made him a little sword, and spray painted the whole thing gold.  Then I took photos of my guests on the red carpet (tablecloth) holding their "Oscar".  I also got some trailer reel from the movie theater I used to work at (anyone can get an old reel for free just by asking the manager), and used that instead of streamers to decorate the movie area.  You also might be able to score some free movie posters to use as prizes!
