I'm bumping this cause I'm new to the boards and in Houston. I'm starting a stitch and bitch type thing, and the first one is going to be tonight, actually.

Are there any already established groups in the area?
Anyone out there interested in joining ours? We'll be more or less meeting somewhere either in the loop/ Montrose area, and tonight at my house, which is right outside the loop at 59 & Bellaire.

I have a Yahoo Group set up for us now, and if you like, message me and I'll send you the url for the group.

For anyone who recycles yarn, the Salvation Army thrift shop at 6150 Bissonnet is having a clothing sale today. Lots of clothes are 50% off, including ALL winter sweaters. I got four sweaters to unravel for $3.50 each, including 100% silk, cotton, and wool ones. There are a lot of sweaters left, but I decided I had to limit myself to four.  Wink

I'm in Houston, and I live right in thrift territory, there are at least 5 within walking distance of my house. My favorite is the Value Village on Harrisburg, and the Sand Dollar whenever they have their monthly half off sales. There's also a Family thrift center on Wayside which is good but stuff costs more, there's a really awesome thrift in Pasadena right before you get to the Wal Mart Supercenter, it might be another Family Thrift but I'm not sure.

Hey C-girl -

There are a bunch of SnB-type things around, but Houston is so big there's always room for more! Yahoo forced Stitch n Bitch Houston to change its name (more than once), so it's now Hip Knit Houston, with listings of 8-10 groups all over. I'm in with the "Central" group; we hook up at Cafe Express on West Gray, Thursdays from about 7 to 10:30.

I'd be interested in finding out more - usually have other things going on Tuesdays, but I'll take any excuse to knit! I'll message you soon.
