This is so beautiful.  You are ambitious to find your own design and go for it.  I would be bawling if someone gave something like that to me that obviously had so much love, meaning, and time behind it.  This is definitely an heirloom piece!

Holy cow, thank you so much for all the feedback!  Especially from the seasoned embroiderers, whose work I have admired for years!

My mom loved it, I'm sure it's going somewhere embarrassingly prominent in the house.

here is a link i found with lots of her illustrations if you ever care to do it again. some of them are just too gorgeous.

Ahhh, thanks for the link!  I had seen that site before, but it didn't have nearly that many of the illustrations yet.  I love her artwork, it definitely makes the book.  I hunted down a vintage Snow Queen for my mom for Xmas 2 years ago.  I would stitch them all of I had the patience...  uh oh, I think I might have just issued myself a challenge.

Amazing! How did you originally get the image onto the muslin?? It's soooo detailed!

I scanned the image from the book, did some photoshop editing so I was only left with black outlines, and then printed that out.  I started out tracing it onto some of that washable transfer plastic stuff.  Well, after about 10 stitches, I realized there was no way that was going to work, so I tore it off and started over, retracing directly onto the fabric with the washable marker.

Luckily she didn't cry, haha.  I had considered the fact that she might.  Moms.  Wink
