I don't normally do patterns. (Too impatient to follow the directions and when I do I get a bad fit.)  Most of my clothing has been the slash the fabric, sew some seams and see what happens kind of thing.

I finally read the book "patternless fashions" and took all the measurements I needed. I drafted an aline skirt with a siz zipper and waistband. 

wow, was it easy.  Marked it right on the fabric and whipped it up in less time it normally takes me to cut out the darn pattern pieces.  I used some fabric in my stash that has been around since my honeymoon, 11 years ago.  It's a great tropical print in blues, browns and burgandies.
