***Is it okay if this is in the clothing category? or should I move it to "halloween"? (even though it isn't)

So on day 2 of Otakon (Saturday) I was Dark Link from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Though it was easy to make most of the stuff, there was a lot to do. The hardest thing was finding reference pictures for the gauntlets and the sheath. The costume includes: black hat (made), elf ears (bought), black undershirt (altered), black tunic (made), gauntlets (made), 2 pairs of black stockings (bought), boots (altered), belt around waist (bought), two pouches tied on my waist belt (made), black ocarina (for fun, bought and painted), black hoop earrings (bought and painted), sword (made), sheath (made), and shield (made, see http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=260095.0)

What do you think?

Very nice, I especially like the shield and sword, I was contemplating making myself a dark link outfit, but I ran out of money when it was getting close to any kind of conventions Sad

Anyway, well done  Wink

money-wise, it wasn't that bad. it was the TIME spent making it that was killer. the three props (shield, sheath, sword) cost under $20 in materials. the undershirt cost me $15 (sale). fabric for hat, tunic, and gauntlets I had already. I knitted the base of the gauntlets. I bought cheap stockings (I believe 3 for $5). I got lucky on the boots, and the ears cost me about $20 with shipping. belts I got cheap at a thrift store, and the earrings were on clearance. not bad, all in all, i think.

that is just awesome!  I would love to do something litke that but, theres never any conventions like that here.   Cry

One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its black gates are guarded by more than just orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep. The great eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire, ash, and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume.......

Very nice! I have yet to do a real cosplay even though I've been to cons before. Great job on yours! The shield and sword look great!

You look so great as Dark Link! I'd love to see more pictures of the items you made for this!

***************DAMN MY LINKS. Sad  it ends up just linking you to my album so... ignore the links and look at the captions?  Cry

My mostly useless "dark" ocarina: it's tiny, cute, and playable, but I didn't take it out Tongue Bought on ebay, and painted the details.

gauntlets: I knitted the base and then sewed the vinyl and cotton(?) fabric on. hot glued the vertical stripes.

sheath: You have no idea how hard it was to find reference pictures for the design (the ocarina of time design, not twilight princess) -_- i'm not even sure this is correct...

sword in sheath: comfortable to wear, annoying when you have to apologize for whacking people with the hilt of your sword >.<

sorry for photobucket being a (*^&^$%^&*^$# and not wanting to put pictures in this post.
