I really want to make the binary scarf (from knitty) for my Hubs for Xmas, but when I started doing it, after the first section I noticed all the 1's were backwards. So the questions are this: Is it because I knit lefty? Do I need to do something special to the chart so it turns out right? Also I've never knit from a chart before, most of the charts scare me. I'd appreciate any and all help in this matter. Thanks in advance!!

Do you mean you hold the yarn in your left hand or do you move your sts from the right needle to an empty left needle.

Charts are a drawing of a pattern as seen from the RS and are read in the direction of your knitting. So if you knit from left to right, then read all odd rows that way, and even rows from left to right.

I move my stitches to an empty left needle. I think you may have solved my problem, I was reading the chart right to left on the RS and left to right on the WS. For some reason I thought I had read somewhere that is how you read them, but reading them in the direction of your knitting makes so much more sense to me! Thanks soozeq!!

That is how you read charts if you move stitches to an empty right needlel, but since you knit the other direction, follow the charts the other direction too.
