just went there today (its in the woburn mall). Sexiest craft store EVER. Its like the size of a supermarket, and filled with great things like fabric, yarn, things to help you make handbags or reupholster chairs or whatever you'd like. I seriously recommend checking it out. SOON. (big sale going on right now)

I've been and it was SO much fun looking at all the stuff. Even my husband liked it! I didn't buy anything but I stared at everything and thought about what i could potentialy make with it.

Thanks for sharing this!  I live in Boston so it's nice to hear about a local gem like this that I didn't know about before!

For any southeastern Mass/RI folks, there's one of these in Warwick, RI too.  They have a pretty nice yarn selection.

yes, excellent store.  they have a free 'frequent shopper' card as well that gets you discounts, coupons, and whatnot.  also, they have quite a bit of 'vintage' style fabric i noticed...very cool.

FYI, the store in Cromwell, CT (off Rte. 91) is supposed to be on of the biggest fabric stores in the NE area!

Fabric Place can be kinda spendy.....and I've heard that they are planning to cut back on their fashion fabrics and focus on home dec stuff  Angry

If you're on a budget, try SewFisticated (http://www.sewfisticated.com/) in Dorchester and Somerville, Sew Lo Fabrics on Cambridge St in Cambridge (very close to the Somerville SewFisticated), or Winmil Fabrics near Downtown Crossing.  There are some funky little fabric stores in Chinatown too, Van's Fabrics with lots of asian silks and stuff, and the dismal remnants of the old fabric district (woe to the loss of North End Fabrics and DiCarlos, but good riddance to New England Fabrics).  In Manchester NH, there is also Fabric Fix, which has great prices on excellent fabrics, if you can find the store which hides behind a muffler shop.

They have cut WAY down on fashion fabrics a Fabric Place.  That is the store I grew up going to with my mother. Thanks for the list of places in Boston, it's super helpful.  I've been living in town for five years and havn't really found a good replacement for fabric place, it's just such a pain to get out there without having to drag the husband kicking and screaming on the weekends.  It'll be nice to have a T acccesible alternative.
