I work for my community pool this summer, and when I'm not helping people, there's a lot of downtime. So, I have taken to bringing my crochet to work with me. I already have a love for ocean creatures, and when you combine that love with chlorine fumes...well...you get these little critters.

Squiddie! I love this guy sooo much. I worked on him off and on for months (some of it at my boyfriend's grandmother's house, where everyone there was impressed that I could crochet). Also, I don't think those are going to be his final eyes; I just need to get out to somewhere that I can get him better looking ones...unless anyone really likes the tiny eyes? I kinda-sorta do, but at the same time, I don't.

To go along with squiddie: jellyfish! I love him too. I made him up as I went along and was so happy with how he turned out. The color in this picture is a little off - it's actually like a bright blue. I'm sorry about the blur, too - I was trying to hold him up to take the picture but I guess my arm wiggled a bit there.

And...I thought this nautilus was going to be sticking with the other two, but after looking at his color scheme in comparison with his companions, I've decided to give him away to my friend Heidi, who watched me make him and adores him. He's still pretty cute, though.

Here's one final shot of squiddie and jelly, sitting on top of the yarn that will become the shell for my new nautilus.

I hope you like them! Also, I got a new camera, so I just have to say - isn't it great that you can actually see the stitching and the work that I put into my critters? My old camera had no macro setting (that's what you get for ~$60) and now that I have a good camera I can't wait to show off all of this stuff I've been making.

Yay! Now, to get a tripod!
