The Basking Shark is the second biggest fish in the sea. The largest one ever recorded was 12.27 metres (40.3 ft). They are gentle giants, and I love them. So does my best pal Kirsteen. I've seen one's dorsal fin from a ferry, but she has seen a few up close. Lucky thing!

Here is a lovely photo of a basker.

For Kirsteen's christmas present, I have made her some basking shark shoes.

The sharks are felt with bead eyes and stitched on gills. The sequins are all sewn on by hand! They're a sparkly seaweedy kelp forest. All other colour work is done with fabric paint pens. The orange stars on the laces are starfish.

These are wicked cool!  I love that you've stitched the felt and sequins onto them rather than just drawing onto them.  Super well done!

Your friend is lucky to have such a talented and thoughtful friend. I love how detailed the shoes are.
