ok, i am having a duh moment right now.  i am starting a basic cabled hat.  there are cables all around the hat.  do i need a cable needle/hook for every cable? i have only done singe cable projects up to this point.  it just seems like the wip is getting awkward to maneuver.  any help would be appreciated.

you would work the cable needle like a regular needle, so by the time you need the cable needle, it will be free again!

You make the cables one at a time, so you move it from place to place.
