This just came to me... and I'm relatively sure its been done in some form or another before...

But everyone puts together a small collection of fabrics, embellishments, threads, materials, whatever... and sends it to a partner... and that partner makes something with it (using everything) and posts a photo?

I just think it would be a neat way to inspire people to try new things.

This is a post on a craft blog that inspired me & what I envision the packages looking like: http://orangeflowersketchbook.blogspot.com/2008/08/inspiration-color-texture-pattern.html

The details are a little fuzzy, I dont know, I've never planned a swap before- what do you guys think?

I love that idea!

Sometimes I find things while shopping that just scream to be made into... something even if I can't figure out what that is yet lol

Also, I really like your blog. Smiley

Thanks for finding even more awesomeness online!

I've organised a couple of these types of swaps as an "Aussie Only" swap and I thoughly recomend it!
It's so much fun, and surprising
Here's the links to the previous ones for inspiration

One time we called "send us y bits"

The second time we called it Aussie Alchemy

We're about to start another called "craft my stash"

Thats awesome! So in your version, the crafters sent the finished pieces back to the stash owners?

My place is usually tidier than this.

This does sound cool.  Right now I am in the beaded art doll kit swap, where we are all making a little kit of fabric, beads, embelishments, etc.  which our partner will make into a little doll to keep for herself, not send it back.

There are a lot of little things that could be made, and each set of partners could make whatever items they decide on.  For kits with fabric as one of the main ingredients you could do pincushions or pouches/purses of different sizes, or dolls or whatever...  You could do a cloth-based kit or a paper-based kit or some other main ingredient, or a combination....  Or you could just say "surprise me" if you send a package of materials to your partner and they make something out of it and send it back to you.  Or you could just send the kit and a pattern and your partner would make the item and keep it...

Lots of variables here, any of which could be really fun! Smiley

Yep - that's why we kept the swap within one country.

Anyone else look like they're interested in doing this? I'd like to keep a slot open if it looks like it'll be before the end of the year. Smiley
