I finished the first leg in Auroras new dress, this started life as a mens button down and i still have some stenciling to do ill modify this post when thats done

I plan on stenciling in a lobster across the back in the same red as the plaid and write  B-52s on the side seam bottom (her favorite song is rock lobster right now)

*edit*  Final pictures with the stencil work i used 'basic' brand acrylic dads an artist and i never saw a spot of the stuff wash off

Im very proud of the final result

she is totally wearing it over play clothes the green sleve dosent belong

I traced an Aline dress she already had (non stretchy this fabric didnt stretch either!) over the button up in crayon making sure to get the arm hole shape  seam ripped the pocket off and cut it out

Sew the side seams and hem the skirt

for the sleeves i used the hem the sleeves had just cut it off an inch  or two in so i had two little rings with one side hemmed  gathered and sewd in the arm hole space

I like top stitching and i think it makes ruffles lay right but you dont have to retrace every seam

I matched the pocket to the plaid but looking back it would've been way cooler tilted and over the side seam

I love it, can't wait to see it finished!  Very inspired!

Rock Lobster was my favourite song when I was young (well, not that young)!  My kids' current favourite is The Ting Tings 'That's not my name', I'd struggle to get that theme on a dress!  Grin
