CLOSING IN 12 hrs from now - that's about 5am Thursday, California time.

Swap name: Roller Derby Style Swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Kitten Wrangler
Sign-up date range: August 6 - August 20
Date to send item by: September 17

Limited to a certain number of people?: NO

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO

Age Requirement: Over 13.

Swap Organizer herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES
- Participant has agreed that he/she is at least 13 years old: YES

Details of swap:
Are you a roller derby girl? Or do you just admire their quad-rocking, booty-blocking style?? Well... Auntie Samantha wants you to come and join in on this swap! Make some badges, or long socks, or armwarmers, or something trendy to put your mouthguard in. T-shirts, kit-bags, first-aid pouches! Warming/cooling packs for those rink-induced injuries!! Whatever your derby-fevered mind can concoct for the greater glory of the sport.

You will be making a total of 3 roller-derby themed items for your partner:
1 Large item
1 Medium item
1 Small item

You are welcome to adjust how much and what you send, but ONLY with the agreement of your partner. It's emphasised everywhere, and I'll emphasise it again: Communication is key! Communication is important!!

Also note:
This is how I roll as organiser
You will PM me a minimum of 4 times. There are not words enough to describe how much I detest having to look through pages of posts to find information.

** PM me when you've made first contact with your partner.
** PM me between Sept 10 and Sept 15 to let me know if you'll send out on time.
** PM me when you've sent, and include the DC# if you're posting within the US. If you're not posting within the US, hold onto your receipt! I cannot stress that enough.
** PM me when you've received.

Asides from that - PM me if you've got a worry or concern about anything. And it goes without saying that you should communicate with your partner as well.

If it all goes wrong - you must let your partner and me know if you're going to miss the sendout deadline. Failure to let me know WTF is going on before Sept 20 will put you straight into my sin-bin. It smells like an unopened kit bag. Trust me - you don't want to be there.

If you want to participate; cut, paste, and fill in the questionnaire, then send it to me!!

I sent in my questionnaire!

If anyone out there is interested in knitting something for this swap or in general, I thought I'd mention that one of my favorite team's Naptown Roller Girls, Joan of Dark, wrote a knitting book inspired by Roller Derby, called Knockdown Knits.

I'm not a roller derby gal - but am a skater - and am turning my boys in to skaters too.... quad style.  I am soooo not in to in line... I just hate the feel of them!
Can us lowly non derby folk join in the roller fun?
I'd salivate over a pattern for skate spats - and would sew them up in a heartbeat - I have been looking for a free pattern online for them with no luck Cry
I hate white skates.

Holy @#$% that is awesome! I wish I could see some of the projects though, none of the big book sites show any of the inside pages.

Seems like one of the Stitch 'n' Bitch books has a pattern for knit kneepad covers Cheesy

Don't know if this would work for you, but there is a tutorial here on craftster for button-up spat type legwarmers. They're really easy. Maybe you could use them as a starting point for making your own style.

Oh, and I'm not on a team, either.

I'd have to really learn pattern drafting quickly to adapt that pattern - I am so not there yet... some day I will come upon it - and then I will make them for every skater I know..!

I suddenly want to own this book very very badly. And I've always loved on the spats that someone else mentioned above.
