I know most of you have to be saying, why would anyone make a stuffie of a thyroid gland, well I promise there is a good reason. A very dear friend has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and on August 11th will be having his thyroid removed. They caught it early and are very hopeful that they have taken care of the problem so things are looking very positive right now. Since they are taking his thyroid, I thought he should have a stuffed one to replace it in case he gets lonesome for it.  Cheesy Yep, I'm silly like that. I also hope he takes it to the hospital with him for the surgery to keep him company afterwards. I'll be giving it to him on Monday.  Grin Just thought I'd show Roy off before he goes on a grand adventure.
Here he is lying flat out.

This is Roy velcroed into the actual shape of a thyroid. They wrap around the larynx. I looked it up on webmd.  Wink

Here is Roy's backside complete with velcro.

Thanks for looking and get well thoughts are appreciated.  Smiley

I absolutely love this!!!  I think the whole "getting something taken out" can be really scary, but this makes it so much easier to deal with.  That being said, I've had a tumor (benign thankfully), lymph node, and my tonsils out this year, so I can understand how humor and friendship can make for a quicker recovery.

Many well wishes for you friend!

Tee hee. I like the look on Roy's face.  What a sweet, thoughtful thing to do for your friend.  I think I need one, too!  Mine was killed after drinking radioactive iodine. (On purpose, mind you, for medical reasons, but I still miss it. It was my first body part I lost. Nothing prepares you for permanently losing a part of your body.)

Great idea to make a thyroid stuffie! Hope all goes well with your friend's condition, too!

If the thyroid isn't cancer free he will have to take that radioactive iodine as well. Sounds scary to me. They told him they'd have to check him with a Geiger counter and he couldn't be around pregnant women or small children for awhile.  Undecided
