Okay... So my sister and I have mutual friend whose birthday was on Monday. My sister and I were both broke (as per usual) and I had no idea what to give her. I decided that I'd make her one of my patented decorated altoid tins, but I didn't really have much to put in there, so I made it a bit more functional than my usual ones. The tin I made to hold my jewelry ended up scratching everything, so I lined this one with felt and made a little flap to stick the earrings in and hold them in place.

Her name on the front was done with iron on letters:

All of the inside decorations were scrapbooking materials:

I poked tiny holes all the way around the flap with a seam ripper so she could poke her earrings though:

I salvaged everything from my craft drawer, including the fabric which was left over from a yoga bag.
I don't know why I wrote "shiny" on the inside. It just seemed appropriate.  Smiley

This is awesome!  I never thought to make it into a little earring box.  Great job.  I just bought altoids yesterday so I can do the clay-along.  thanks for the inspiration. Homemade gifts are the best!  I am sure your friend will love it. Cheesy

Thanks. I wasn't there when she got it, but my sister told me that Savy and her mom had a good giggle over the "shiny" I put on the inside. I'm glad she got it, or I would have looked like a major geek!

That is so cute! Great job, and I'm glad she liked it. I have those same stickers that say "shiny" except mine are turquiose color. Anyways that is pretty, thanks for the inspiration.
