Thanks for the info! I really don't know too much about moss. I only read to not put them in direct sun and to not over water them since they usual take care of themselves when in closed jars.

Good to know about the venus fly traps. I had one once, but failed to keep it alive.

Venus Fly Traps are a lot of fun as long you know what they need (full sun, distilled or rainwater, no miracle grow, no hamburger). I started with a Venus Fly Trap and now have over 100 carnivorous plants from all over the world.  Tongue

You're right about the moss care  Grin If anyone wants to know more about moss there are a few books on it.

I vote for the owls! They are so cute!
I think I might have to steal this idea of an xmas gift. My mother is obsessed with her lawn and lawn gnomes but she lives in Wisconsin so she is deprived of green for nearly 6 months in a bad year and her poor little gnomes have to stay locked in the garage! These would be awesome to give to her with little mini polymer clay gnomes Smiley So here's the question: will moss survive being shipped cross country?

What a wonderful idea for apartment residents! Especially because my plants always seem to be on the verge of dying. Guess I'm not a great gardner- so self sustaining would be perfect!

Ooo yes a terrarium with a gnome in it would be perfect for her!  And it appears that these can be shipped cross country as I've seen people on Etsy selling them. http://www.etsy.com/search_results.php?search_type=tag_title&search_query=moss+terrariums

Yes, if you're shipping moss alone just wrap it in a barely moist paper towel and put it in a zip-lock bag. Then put it in the box you're shipping it in.

If you're shipping it already planted in a bottle I'd recommend stuffing the empty area in the bottle with barely moist paper towel. That way it won't shift too much in shipping.

I ship carnivorous plants and moss all over the US and I have shipped them all over the world.. I haven't had any perish yet Smiley

Wildfyre, do you sell your carnivorous plants online? You've inspired me to try keeping them again.
