I have always had the pleasure of making my daughter's Halloween costumes, but had to give it up when she was in high school - she's 23 now, so it's been years since my services were needed

. (I have three sons, but their costumes have never been much fun for me!) Finally, my 6 month old granddaughter was in need of a costume this year

I tease that I'm going to make her a fairy EVERY year, so this year I started with a Ladybug Fairy.
All the instructions were readily available online for the wings (I watched the Threadbanger video posted on Craftster one day). Hint - after looking all over town for red tights to use, I finally found them at the costume store - but smart people probably already know that! I used black sparkly felt for the dots. Had to create the whole headband with wire and felt since I couldn't find one for her size head ... worked out better when I had to put the antennae on anyway. Of course, the skirt is tulle, with more internet instructions ... super easy! And I had to throw in the wand because what fairy doesn't have a wand?! Although ... she wasn't allowed to play with it since everything currently ends up in her mouth

. All thrown together in a weekend, with a black onesie bought online ...
Here are some elements of the costume ...

And here's Eden in full fairy mode ...

And just 'cuz I think she's so cute, here's another ...

Can't wait 'til next year ... I'm thinking of all kinds of wonderful fairy possibilities -
