this is awesome. i was looking for a pattern for something basically just like this and came across yours - haha.

as a personal experience about knitting needles and the tsa, i brought knitting needles on an international flight (which they tend to be a bit stricter about) last fall and it was fine. i checked the tsa website ahead of time and it seems they have not tightened control on needles since then. 

the only thing i had a problem with is any scissors must be 8" (I think?) or shorter from the joint to the tip. the website says "blade" of that length, but they measure from the screw at the joint, not the blade itself. i had a pair confiscated because of this. the blades themselves were 1/2" shorter than allowed, but the blade stopped ~3/4" before the screw so they were "too long."

then there's a whole story about the argument i got into with the tsa woman. i was trying to clarify what they meant by "blade" (because they don't mean the actual blade which is stupid) and she just wanted to yell at me about how "it's for my own protection blah blah"

but i digress.

I love love your bag. its been on my mind for a while now, because I love to take projects with me places, but I hate that sometimes say, I'll go to the dr.'s and pull all my yarn out, untangle it, start knitting and I get one row before I get called. As a knitter, you have created the bag of my dreams. It is unbelievable in terms of organization. You thought of EVERYTHING! You could sell these for big bucks, or minimally, you could sell a pattern. (If you decide to do so, put me on your list!)  It is perfection and beautiful as well.
