Thta is a HOT dress!  Love the check.  I, too, am a newbie to patterns and alterations.  I have been hoarding books from the library, and one especially on pattern alteration.  I'm really glad I have, because now I wanna sew things that fit ME all the time.  Keep up the great work!

LOL, that sounds like what i've been doing for the past month. Hey you can also visit barnes and nobles if you have one around your area or any book store that has a coffee/rest spot and look through some of their books and possibly take notes if you bring a book and pen along.I still wanna take sewing classes though but, they're so damn expensive... $345 for 5 sessions sounds like high-way robbery to me.lol.

That is gorgeous and your butt is making me want to do squats! I think I would have only posted bootie shots if I had something I looked like that in. Now I will sit here, and tell myself that if I only make something lovely, I won't need the squats. Maybe that's why you'll never see my bootie on here. Seriously, though, cute dress and you look amazing in it.

ahahahaha Cheesy Thank you!!. I think it's the dress because my booty is medium, I have thighs for days but the booty is just medium hehehehe. Squats help ALOT, i need to get back to doing those oh and running/jogging too. I heard that if you wanted to reduce your waist-line running/jogging does the job fast. Anyhow, A booty is a booty is a booty.(lol!).they come in different shapes and sizes and im sure you have something to work with for those booty shorts Wink

It looks GREAT on you! I especially like the sleeves, (and the backside fits so well, I have booty envy now)

I have been hoarding books from the library, and one especially on pattern alteration.

I would love to know what books on pattern alteration you've been looking at, ingysoup. I took a class on pattern alteration a while back, but my memory is getting a little shady.

Anyway, it looks like your research paid off, sugahoney. Good work!

I darted the area right above my booty and made it a few inches smaller...Although it only made the dress tighter it fixed the problem. But next time i intend on adding more space to my hips just so that doesnt happen. I hope im making sense. If What im saying is not, i'll rephrase.lol

I hope this helps, I got some great tips from this book Sew U: The Built by Wendy Guide to Making Your Own Wardrobe by WENDY MULLIN  although i havent really come around to altering patterns it helped me understand the basics (w/ cartoon like pics included). Anddd it has 3 patterns enclosed. That was the only book i ended up getting from barnes and nobles.
