LAWebChick, you rule!  This is my first post, although I've been lurking on this site for quite a while.  I love the iPod cozy so much I just had to post!  I'm definitely going to try this- I don't have a cell phone (so all those cell phone cozy patterns don't do me any good) but I DO have a Pod... yay!

As for the hole issue, I agree with kayray, you probably can simply cut yourself a hole now that it's felted and then secure the edges.

Thanks for the idea!   Smiley

I totally went and felted for the first time after reading this post! I made a cozy for my PDA! I'll get some pictures up soon. I think my PDA is a tad bigger than an I-Pod, and I would reccomend knitting about 1 and 3/4 times the size of your item. I'm totally hooked on felting now!

you can definitely poke a hole post-felting.  I haven't actually felted yet, but I've been reading up to prepare!  Anyway, just  jam a knitting needle in where you want the hole.  I've even seen this recommended for holes for straps, so I guess it can be a pretty big hole if you need it to be.

cool ! i just got an ipod for valentine's day and must make one of these holders for it as i'm obsessed with feling right now..

something i once saw :
an old friend of mine once made an ipod cover out of the inexpensive felt you find at craft stores... she stitched a simple case and attached velcro at the back.  she cut a square out at the spot where the "controls" are on the front and stitched a thin piece of plastic to create a window to the ipod.  this way she could use it without taking it out of the case.    Smiley
