Nothin' like a wearable item adorned with fish skellies!

You think that this fact alone would make the Dead Sea Stole special, but no.  This crocheted design is special because it is made up of yarn that I've dyed, spun, or a combo of both!  Yes indeedy, this thing began with tufts of fluff!

I am pretty proud of this.  Hope you guys think it's cool too!!

A close up of the glow in the dark skellies...

I used glow in the dark acid dyes to make that chartreuse color pop.  I also needle felted the eyes on the fish heads.

Here's a detail of my homespun crocheted up in the chevron pattern...

Here is the yarn after it was spun up and before crocheted up...

Haven't quite figured out what my next homespun project will entail, but you can be sure that there will be more to come!

that's amazing that you spun, dyed, AND crocheted all the yarn yourself.
it's a great piece, and i really love the colours.  (and the fishy skeletons.)

and the name!  "dead sea stole"?  too clever!

Thanks guys!

BTW, I took a spinning class and soon had a wheel after that.  It took me months to accumulate enough yarn to make this.  Slow and steady...

I had been wanting to do a fish skeleton applique forever.  As soon as I made the yarn I knew the time was right!
