I was inspired by limegreenchicken's bag  found at http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=17745.0  and I just had to make one for one of my co-workers.  He and his wife are expecting their second child, and since the 1st was a boy I thought that his wife might like having something a little more girly for this baby.

Close-up of the applique -- felt with embroidered eyes and mouth, sequin and bead earrings -- complete with their last name in beads as a necklace for the baby. The hair bow is made from the same polka dot grosgrain ribbon as the handles.

Excellent, excellent you have great skills!  My SIL is pregnant, I'll have to start thinking about a design for a diaper bag too!

great job!  I love the way you used the beads like a necklace to spell her last name.  The recipient must have been thrilled!

I hope so.  I know that my coworker was impressed, and since he is a guy, it generally takes something pretty cool to impress him.  He said that he thought that his wife would love it.  It was really fun to make.  I may do a few more   Roll Eyes

I disagree, but thanks.  It was fun -- and addictive.  I'll have to make more now.

I've been lurking here for quite awhile but I just had to register to tell you what a terrific bag this is.  You did a fantastic job.  I can see that the pacifier is made from a button, but what is the pull made from?  A friend's daughter is expecting soon and I'd love to make one of these for her.

Congrats on a job well done!  Cheesy

It's just a piece of white elastic cord that I had handy.  You could use anything, I just happened to have some extra cording.   I talked to my coworker this morning, his wife loved the bag, but they are going to have to re-sew the letters on the front.  He said that he had just taken it out of the bagto show it to her when their 2 1/2 year old yanked the beads off.  Guess I should have used stronger thread for the beads  Roll Eyes
