Hey, I just joined the forum, and I'm also new to Alabama; I hope to meet some great people here.

Hi! Have you had a chance to go to Americas Thriftstore on Skyland yet?

Welcome!  I had all but given up on the Alabama site here.    I too am addicted to the thriftstore.  And there is an antique shop just down to the road from the thriftstore (closer to Lowe's).  You should go if you haven't been yet.

Geez, i wish I lived closer.  I'm in Prattville, near Montgomery.  Not very many from Alabama on this board, I'm afraid.  If there are, they don't post much.

When I first moved here I searched the board for "Huntsville" and found some names that way - and then I was lucky enough that there are several here on Craftster.
If you are a yarnie you can do the same thing over on Ravelyry.... I started a Huntsville group over there - and there were a TON of people there!! I was in shock in comparison to the small handful of us here on Craftster. I don't know what the difference is but that group is actually pretty active although we don't get together personally... there is a few knitting groups that meet here in town but I can't go to them since I'm allergic to wool and it seems that's all anyone wants to knit with lately...
