I just wanted to say I'm so glad you posted this ~ I wanted to do something with some photos I took of my great grandparent's house for an art show and I decided to make a bowl using one of these patterns.

I remember those and also the hats my sister used to make out of bleach bottles. {they were made with the same concept, punch holes and crochet together}

My grandmother had (what do I mean had, she probably still does!) these in her house for the holidays.  I remember them well, thanks for the flashback.  Hers were reinforced with clear plastic over the cards (the thickness was kind of like you get on report covers or if you have something bound at the copy shop).  I might just have to try my hand!
