I was going thru my Granny's stuff and I came across this leaflet. I can remember getting homemade fudge in a little box she made from old greeting cards. This had to be where she got the idea from. I thought you guys would like it.

Oh!  I think my grandmother must have seen that too, because she had a lamp shade that was made along these same lines.

Great find!

You brought back some nice memories- my grandmother made all her greeting cards into gift boxes for birthday and Christmas presents.

Eek! It's my first post ever!  Cheesy

I just wanted to say I'm so glad you posted this ~ I wanted to do something with some photos I took of my great grandparent's house for an art show and I decided to make a bowl using one of these patterns.

I remember those and also the hats my sister used to make out of bleach bottles. {they were made with the same concept, punch holes and crochet together}

My grandmother had (what do I mean had, she probably still does!) these in her house for the holidays.  I remember them well, thanks for the flashback.  Hers were reinforced with clear plastic over the cards (the thickness was kind of like you get on report covers or if you have something bound at the copy shop).  I might just have to try my hand!

that is really cool...it almost makes it look like leather or something, with the lacing and all.
thanks for sharing this, I will likely be using this idea!

I just came across this.  Great patterns.  I made a bowl out of greeting cards.  The pattern I goit wasn't too exact but it did come out nice.  I might use these.

Ha!  I bought one of these at thrift store in MI while visiting my sister...it was covered in clear plastic and crocheted together...I now have the patterns and won't have to take it apart and put it back together again!  Thank you for posting those!  I thought of using contact paper for the covering, adhesive back and clear...I'll post pics if I get to one....if not it is on the list for crafting through next year!  I'm makin' one for my Mum, at the least...the vase for Mother's Day.  =]

I made this one for a friend using pages from a calendar:

It was a lot of fun! I can't wait to make another. My friend has a couple of vintage calendars from the '60s and one of Monet paintings that I am excited to use.
