I finally completed a project!

This is a styrofoam underwear display mannequin I bought at a department store fixture sell-off.

I took apart an old floor lamp, painted the base black, and mounted him on it. (He already had a hole in his right leg for mounting, but it would've been easy enough to make one if he didn't.)

I borrowed a pair of my nephew's cast-off shorts and adorned him with bottlecap thumbtacks.

Craftsters: thank you for the inspiration to get something done again! (Hope the images work).

If there's a dork around these parts, it's gotta be me.  Cheesy

By the way, slick, congratulations on making the project forum picture gallery... or whatever it's called. You (and Frida) deserve it.

That is SO the coolest bulletin board I've ever seen!

I wonder if you could cut the mannequin in half, back-to-front & somehow mount the sides onto the wall...

::wonders where the hell I can find a styrofoam mannequin::

There are lots on ebay

or try

I'm not sure those are the right material for sticking pins in.  You could also slap on a coat of magnetic paint... it makes Anything a bulletin board.

if you're looking for styrofoam body parts, try retail stores right after the holidays.  take it from an old retail manager,  they get extra "bodies" in for displays and just throw them out afterwards.  Stores to try... Gymboree, American Eagle, Spencers, Deb.  Not that they are free (unless you dumpster dive!)  but at least cheap because that's less display inventory they have to worry about.

recyclednew: (love your screenname) just call the larger department stores in your area and ask them if they ever have fixture liquidation sales, that's where I found mine. You might also check your local yellow pages for fixture liquidation warehouses.
