Exercise Mat Bag

I've decided it's time to get things together.  One of these is getting my kids mat out of the way\stored.  So I looked here and found a lined bag I liked and also made the decision to for once follow a pattern.  Well, this is what happened when I followed it to a tee:

That's what I get for either being too trusting or too *&% to do my own thinking.  The instructions didn't say to take into allowance the top part so it came out very short....
Then I went to the Jordy post, read how to put in a liner and got back to work.
First I decided that the mat needed something to keep it closed while putting it into the bag as well as in the bag so I made a tag with Velcro and elastic.

Made the strap wider than the original and used the other strap as the pull string at top.


Now I'm happy and am encouraged to...just do it.

Many years ago I did a stretch knit sewing course and the instructor always told us " there are never mistakes only changes"!!!! You were very clever with your changes  - an attractive, clever, well designed useful bag. - Well done!!!!

Thank you so much bagtart for the vote of confidence.  Smart teacher!!! thank you for sharing her wisdom.  Did I ever make changes here but you live and learn and the bottom line is that I'm really enjoying myself exploring new things.

Thank you kaishabackwards.  I'm really pleased that now the mat has a nice place to be.  Looks better and is more convenient to use.
