I finally made the plunge and decided to add yet another hobby to my list. Home made soaping. My house is full of ridiculous supplies and now smells of soap!

First batch!!

Sweet Peppermint + Lime
2 lb. batch
Ingredients: Olive oil, water, coconut oil, lard, lye, fragrance, love

It smells heavenly, and strong, but not overpowering. The lather bubbles are small but cleans very well. The soap is mild and cooling from the peppermint EO.

My Second batch is my favorite of the two as far as the lather goes.

Honeysuckle + Vanilla
2 lb. batch
Ingredients: Olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, canola oil, water, lye, fragrance, happiness

It smells almost like a warm sugared vanilla with a sweet gentle floral note. The lather is incredible and the scent is soft after the wash. I love this soap!

Congrats on trying a new craft!

I have never tried soap making, but from your description is doesn't sound as intimidating as it used to and the soaps sounds delicious.  Think you have just inspired me to give it a whirl.

Wow, I'm just looking at all the soap making video's and instructions. I'm a little scared cause I have kids so I think I'll do it when they are sleeping. How did you do it? Or how long roughly did it take you to make one batch?

I suggest giving it a try! It's not as scary or intimidating as i thought it would be. it's just like following a brownie recipe. It's not hard at all. I recommend trying some simple recipes with oils you can buy at the grocery store. I found the lye at lowes in the plumbing department and used a cutlery container from walmart as a mold!

Easy peazy and insta-addiction hobby! Tongue

It isn't bad at all. Just practice some basic safety! Wear gloves and eye protection Smiley No biggie
