American apparel can kiss my shirts EDIT: TUTORIAL
«
on:

2 clothing post in one day!? say it cant be so!
so i dont know about any of you, but i love these deep v neck tees , but refuse to pay 20 -30 bucks for one.
whats a craftster to do?! . Find fun t - shirts and make them v necks her self
^this is my attempt at my best american apparel pose.. however, i am not bra-less, unlike their models
i made sure to draw the shape of the neck line on the shirt , then sew it once before i cut to prevent any bunching/mistakes , although the first one i did, still came out a bit wonky...
some before:
ironicly this one was printed on an american apparel sustainable cotton t . I guess i never really looked at the tag when i had bought it
pretty simple.. but i got excited so i thought i would share !
EDIT: so heres a tute.. pretty simple...

Awesome! I've actually never seen their ads, but I'm guessing they're awful? I love the shirts you've done, though!

Great job on those. I love v necks too. I have several I need to work on myself. I can't handle the regular neckline. I am constantly pulling on them to get them off my throat.

These look great. I always prefer v-necks to crew anyways. Can I ask what you did? Did you just sew a line of stitching and cut the fabric leaving a raw edge or did you turn it under? I have a few shirts that could use this treatment. Also, how did you decide on the shape and size of the V?
Thanks for any tips.

thank you everyone! not only for wonderful comments, but knowing im not the only one out there who thinks american apparel is redonkulous for trying to sell such things as skinny acid wash jeans for 60 bucks-a-pop. when the typical thrift-er knows you can find them anywhere for 2 dollars, because no one wants them anymore

- i will jot down a tute within the next few days , to save you any confusion due to my lack of correct sewing terms, and inability to explain things without drawings.
plusss it will give me an excuse to go back and make some more !

American Apparel is so evil! And I saw a woman in skin-tight sparkly leggings and a short t-shirt... 'nuff said.
But I really like the shirts! Sew, woman, sew!
Did you ever see that ad with the shirtless chick and the long hair who was holding her boobage and bending over backwards so that only her feet were showing under her hair? She was Squid-woman.

it's amazing what a difference the v-neck makes. I have a lot of shirts with cool designs but that I don't really wear too often due to the unfortunate crew necks. I will likely be trying this!
