STAINS!!!!

My great aunt, shortly before she hit ninety, was cleaning out her home and gave me a lot of her old crafts that she never got around to doing. Great stuff- little kid aprons shaped like dolls for my mom when she was about three--- stuff that people are calling vintage nowadays and selling on eBay, and I LOVE it. Problem- age stains. Case in point- a beautiful piece of white cotton pillow tubing, still not cut apart, with a design of flowers stamped on it and the label for the store a piece of paper pinned to the fabric. The store, incidentally, hadn't existed for about fifteen years. My mom's eyes popped when she saw it; it was great. Anyway, in a time-honored tradition of procrastination and craft ADHD (YARN BOUTIQUE! *raids*) mixed with a healthy dash of the kind of ADHD inherent in 12 year olds, they sat for about four years and I've just now finished them. Long story short, I need something that will treat the stains but not ruin the embroidery. Any ideas? I did have to embroider them before I tried to clean them because the pattern would have washed out and all would have been lost. Help would be greatly appreciated.

They sound really nice, you should post some pictures.  Maybe soak them in a very weak solution of oxyclean and water.  Or even dye the whole piece of fabric with tea bags.  Hope it works out for you!

I was going to suggest a tea bath too or maybe an off white dye?
