I LOVE the fabric you used, i've been admiring those kind of prints at contemporarycloth.com (no affiliation).

Wow....LOVE your bag!  I bought the same pattern months ago and have tried to make the darn thing 3 times!!!!  I cannot get the handles to work so I rolled it all up and stuck it in the closet! I am a mediocre sewer...not a beginner but this has me stumped! Any tips?  You did an excellent job!

Thanks!  The bag measures 17" Wide by 7" Tall.  The fabric was purcashed at Stitches (http://www.stitchesseattle.com/) in Seattle. They are supposed to get their inventory up online fairly soon.

I am so investing in fray stop.

Thank you thank you thank you for this info! Joann's is the only fabric shop nearby (Kent--agghhh I hate mullets), and so the discovery (thanks to you) of Stitches is an absolutely wonderful fantistic thing. Thank you thank you thank you again!!

P.S.
Your purse is gorgeous!

I don't need a baby growing inside me for nine months. For one thing, there's morning sickness. If I'm going to feel nauseous and achy when I wake up, I want to achieve that state the old fashioned way: getting good and drunk the night before.

The instructions on the handles are tricky so I cheated a little.  I removed them mid-sew (after sewing them inside) and put them on later as I was top stitching the bag itself.  In fact, I am making another bag like this one and I am going to use the same modification again.  Amy Butlers patterns are weird - really oversimplified in some places and totally vague in others.

Thank you!  I can't believe I didn't think of that!  I get all weird and try to follow the pattern exactly without "using my brain" to do it my way.  Thanks....I'll dig out my pattern and try again! Undecided

Love the bag! I just ordered that same fabric (from denverfabrics.com) to make myself a purty bag. Hope it comes out half as nice as yours did.
