So here are a few paintings I've done in the past few months but didn't get around to posting until now.. I just felt like doing something a bit silly, especially after getting tired of over-intellectualized art in art school. I needed to inject some humour into it! So without further ado...

"I Dream of Pompadors"
acrylic, ink, and gold foil on found object.

These three go together in a triptych called "Underwater Breakfast Appliance" (what can I say, I love breakfast)

"Cowboys Don't E-mail"
collaged postcard

Well, that's it for now! Of course, comments and criticisms welcome and appreciated.

is it good or bad that i confused the elvis hairdos with buffalos at first?!  i think it adds an (h)air of mystery, actually...

and i love the last one.
actually they are all great... somewhere in a nice overlap of cartoon and really fine technique...

These are spectacular!  The Underwater Breakfast Appliance series especially stands out to me.  Classy, although they have a wit about them.

i think the double meaning (unintended as it may be) still links to the route 66 of the palimpsest (sorry, i just had to use a postmodernist word and here was my excuse).
a herd of pompadours.  elvis' hair ghost riding in the sky.  why not, you know?!
they really look like hairdos, too, once you think about it.

I don't care about any double meaning or any other spiritual crap like that, I simply like it and I like it a lot, I would be happy to have "Underwater Breakfast Appliance" in my kitchen. Are they for sale?

Wowee they are AMAZING! I love the breakfast ones..and I too thought the pomps were bison. Brilliant work. I keep thinking the cowboy in the last pic is Heath Ledger/Ennis Del Mar - so long since I watched that movie. Anyway. I love them, and I love the anti preg_replace('/(.{19})/', '$1 ', 'pretentiousness...that')'s the thing I hate most about art, having to come up with a ridiculously florid explanation to justify something you did cause you felt like it.

postmodernism isn't particularly spiritual, more like annoying.
i was trying to be funny, in the spirit of the paintings.
it didn't work.
i like them, too.
i hope you can get a print or something.

I agree with everyone - invest in printmaking and it'll pay off!  I love them all - it's hard to pick a favorite, but the triptych is amazing.

The one with the fish in the blender reminds me of the book eating the Cheshire cat! I love that book. These are amazing.

I love these!  As for the buffelo thing-  Here is how backwards my mind is.  I confused Pompador with toreador and i actually thought they were bulls....None the less, awsome paintings!

This is great visual humor, and even better I would totally hang those on my walls.

I agree, prints, prints, prints!

add me to the bandwagon of people who would love to have these hanging on their walls, but a print would more than suffice.  you've got a great style, I love the whimsy.  oh, and I thought they were buffalo, also.  that's what makes it so cool, like every time you study it, you see something you didn't see before.
